On Friday we practiced making movies in our mind as we read. We began by talking about the Narrative Learning Progression and how as we develop as readers we ratchet up the level of each strategy. To practice the grade 4 Learning Progression Level I read a part from chapter 2 of the Tiger Rising. Then students acted out the scene as I read it. It was so much fun. Students then set out to practice this strategy with their independent reading book. Finally, they met with their reading buddy and shared what they pictured in their mind. It was an exciting day in 4th grade.
