For our nonfiction unit we have begun keeping interactive notebooks. These help us to remember the concepts that we have been taught. Students glue in our learning target for the lesson and examples that will help them in their daily work.

We have been learning all about Expository Nonfiction. That means informational text. This week we learned about all the text features, and how we use them to make inferences about the text. Some text features are: table of contents, glossary, index, bold words, diagrams, fact boxes, tables, graphs, timelines, photographs and captions. To conclude these lessons we did a scavenger hunt where partners searched through our informational books to find specific text features. |
